Let's go through the steps on how to best wear your new mane, Unicorn! We want you to be comfy.
Step 1: Measure length on your crown
Magic Manes fit best when they are placed like a halo around the crown of your head. Place the stretchy cord where you would wear a headband and measure how long the cord should be for the mane to sit nice and comfortably around the crown of your head. Make a little mark on the cord with a marker so you know where to tighten the cord to.
Step 2: Tighten the stretchy cord and snip
Each end of your mane has a small, metal clamp bead. Using a pliers, gently open the clamp by squeezing it the opposite way that it is clamped. You should be able to easily grab the short end of the cord and adjust the length to your mark. Use your pliers to clamp the metal bead. Check the length on the crown of your head and if it fits comfortably, you can snip off the excess cord.
Alternatively, if you don't have a pliers, simply cut the cord right under the metal bead, tighten the length to your mark and tie a tight knot in the cord to hold it in place.
Your stretchy cord can be replaced with a new piece of fishing line anytime by simply knotting it on each end of your mane.
Step 3: Clip up the top portion of your hair
Section of the hair on the crown of your head and clip it up and out of the way. You'll want to play around with styles but generally, the thicker your hair, the less of it you want to be on top of your mane.
Step 4: Add your mane
Place the top of the cord where you would typically wear a headband and the top of the hair matching the part you have created. There shouldn't be a large gap between your hair and the mane.
Step 5: Un-clip and style your hair
Using a comb, blend your own hair over the stretchy cord so that it disappears. Comb your hair over your mane and style it how you like. Be careful applying too hot of an iron to your mane (275 degrees or below - and test a section on the bottom first).
